A new Swiss flag

“The Swiss Climate Flag” reimagines Switzerland’s national emblem to highlight the pressing issue of climate change. Integrating Ed Hawkins’ concept of “warming stripes,” the piece transforms the traditional red backdrop of the Swiss flag into a series of vertical stripes that represent annual average temperature anomalies in Switzerland over the years (since 1864). If current climate trends persist, the flag will be overwhelmed by the deep reds of rising temperatures.
